President’s Message: The U.S. “Motley Crew’s” Accomplishments for 2009
Here we are at the end of 2009 and the first year with President Barrack Hussein Obama ensconced in the White House and the Democrats firmly in control of both houses of Congress. So what has the “motley crew” managed to do in these 12 months? The President has flown all over the world (at taxpayer expense) while bowing to various world leaders and apologizing profusely for America at every stop. And he has provided those interested in blowing us to smithereens with a time table in Afghanistan. Wonder how that would have worked if President Roosevelt and told the Axis Powers “We will begin withdrawing all out troops on December 7, 1942 regardless of how the war is going? The Democrats in Congress with the help of some so-called Republicans are in the process of spending us into bankruptcy with “Obamacare” and “Cap and Trade” waiting in the wings to create even more debt and job loss. In the words of Thomas Jefferson, “To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.” But, in my opinion, this bunch has one very important accomplishment: the awakening of the American people who as I said last month, have been “asleep at the wheel” for way too many years. Can we take back our country? November 2, 2010 will either “make or break us”. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION! The fate of our nation does lie in who is elected on that day. This is one election year that no one can afford to ignore or sit out. If you do, you are complicit in what happens after that and how dare you complain!
On a much happier note, I would like to thank all of our officers and committee chairs for what you have done to make this a successful year. Plano Republican Women’s Club has again been awarded both the Diamond Award from NFRW and the John Tower Award from TFRW. And we also were awarded for our Caring for America project which has sent $65,000 plus in coupons to our adopted military base in Japan. Cindy Stachiw did a great job on this and we owe a big thank-you to a long-time former member and now an associate member, Betty Westbrook for providing us with so many coupons. Our returning officers for next year, besides “yours truly” as president, are Linda Schenck, 2nd Vice President, Membership, Anne Logan, Recording Secretary, and Janet Rawe, Corresponding Secretary. Newly elected officers are Denise Laman, 1st Vice President, Programs and Stephanie Casson, Treasurer. I look forward to working with such a capable group of women in the coming year to grow our club and work to elect Republicans in November. Our thanks to State Representative Jodie Laubenberg, who presided at our installation on December 3. Also I want to especially thank Ruby Kerr for all her hard work in putting together the installation and Christmas Luncheon.
I hope that all our members will plan to attend our “Review of the Past and Look to the Future” retreat which will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at my home, 4305 Angelina Drive, Plano, Texas from 10 AM to 2 PM. Lunch will be provided. I am looking forward to serving my 4th term as your president, but the club needs everyone’s input and ideas to make 2010 a truly remarkable year for our club. I will be making a very special announcement at this meeting, but you will have to attend to “get the scoop.”
As we all look to a new year, let us learn from the past and plan for the future. We are in the midst of that most joyous, yet stressful time of the year. Let’s all take time to remember the real reason for the season: the birth of our savior whose birthday we celebrate each year at this time. I wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!
