President’s Message: Congratulations Primary Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the March 2 primary election. But we are not quite done. We have a runoff and the candidates that will be on the ballot are listed below. Early voting for the Primary Runoff Election begins on Monday, April 5th and runs through Friday, April 9th. Election Day is Tuesday, April 13, 2010.

I urge our members to decide which candidates you are supporting and to volunteer to help them during this short political season to get out the vote in this runoff. Runoffs, unfortunately, have notoriously low turnout and just a few votes will often decide an election. These are all important elected positions and the candidates of your choice will welcome your help and support. Be sure to keep up with your campaign hours and turn them in to our campaign chair, Kimberly Brown.

This has been a rather “cantankerous” primary, but once the runoff is over, Republicans in Collin County need to come together and work toward victory in November as we do have Democrat challengers in the following Collin County races: U. S. House of Representatives, Districts 3 and 4, Criminal District Attorney, County Judge, County Court at Law 3, Collin County Commissioner, Precinct 2, and Justice of the Peace, 3, Place 2, not to mention the various statewide races. We must not take any race for granted. We must commit ourselves to get behind our candidates at the local, state and national level and work as though our entire way of life is at stake, for indeed I believe it is. This election is the most critical of our lifetime and no one who loves the nation can afford to sit this one out. Many made that mistake in 2008 and we are paying dearly for their inaction. I’ve always believed that if you don’t exercise your right to vote, you have no right to complain about the government you get.

All registered voters are eligible to vote in the Republican Primary Runoff Election as long as they did not vote in the March 2nd Democratic Primary Election, according to the Republican Party of Texas website. The reverse is also true, all registered voters are eligible to vote in the Democratic Primary Runoff Election as long as they did not vote in the March 2nd Republican Primary Election. So get out there and work for the candidates of your choice and get out the vote in the primary runoff. You can make a difference!!!
