President’s Message: How Safe Do You Feel?
Happy New Year! 2010 is going to be a watershed year for this country. Will conservatives put aside their differences and stand together to put our conservative Republicans back in office and replace the Democrats and RINOs or will we allow personal agendas to override the more important issue of getting our country back? I pray that we can bring the Tea Party and the Republican Party together for a victory in 2010 that will “knock their socks off”!!
In the meantime, we have a very pressing issue that has come to light with the latest attempt by a radical Muslim to blow up the Northwest airline. Janet Napolitano, Homeland Security Czar has banned the use of “war on terror”: it is now “Overseas Contingency Operation” and when something happens it is now a “man-caused disaster”. Apparently she believes, along with President Obama, that if you tone down the rhetoric that suddenly those fanatic Muslims will suddenly no longer want to blow us to kingdom come. NEWS FLASH: if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s probably a bloody duck and calling it a pig will not make it so. We are at war and we have been at war since the takeover of the U. S. Embassy in Iran in 1979. We just didn’t know it or maybe Jimmy Carter was just too stupid to realize that his refusal to back the Shah of Iran, maybe not the most benevolent ruler in the entire world, but a damn sight better that the Ayatollah Khomeini, was the match that lit this fuse. And since that time the threat has only increased and the enemy has become more emboldened, culminating in September 11, 2001. But they didn’t count on the resolve of George W. Bush. Of course he had to deal with the loony left, the Democrats that represent them and the bureaucracy of a bloated Federal government. However, we have a new president now and he doesn’t see this threat in the same light. He’s dismantling many of the safeguards that have kept us safe; he’s demonized the CIA, has the military going after Navy Seals that did their jobs but are now being punished for doing so, trying these enemy combatants in civil courts as though they had the rights of American citizens and still plans to close Gitmo.
So how safe are we these days. Well, through a friend, I’ve found out a bit about PETN, the explosive that was smuggled aboard the Northwest plane. It takes about 80 grams of PETN to knock an aircraft out of the sky. That is less than a fifth of a pound. How much cocaine enters the United States in a single day? Every day, more than two tons of powder flows through Mexican and the Caribbean, with one-third of that ending up in the U.S., or about 1320 pounds per day. And these statistics are from 1997!
Do we really think that radical Islamic terrorists might now try doing the same thing with PETN? And since PETN cannot be detected through electronic detection, we don’t use bomb-sniffing dogs and your grandmother is more likely to be searched than a man whose father contacted the CIA about his radical views, how safe do you feel?
We must make the most of the opportunities we have been afforded in 2010 to make changes. Our very lives may depend on it.
