“I had been the chair for communication,” Peters said. “When chairman (Rob) Franke requested I take over legislative I was pleased to do it.”

“The energy, involvement and unique perspective Mayor Peters and Commissioner (Kathy) Ward bring to the executive committee will take our organization to a new level,” said Cedar Hill Mayor Rob Franke, the current chair of DRMC. “Their ability to clearly communicate the vision, legislative needs and the challenges we face in transportation planning will be a tremendous service to our region.”

Mayor Peters was elected to the Coppell City Council in 1998. She has represented Coppell on the DRMC executive committee since 2002. She has also served as chair of the DRMC communications committee, and is a member of the DRMC by-laws committee.

“I have always been happy to service with this particular group,” Peters said. “The DRMC plays a very important role regarding transportation advocacy.”

Peters added that she was looking forward to the DRMC continuing to take the lead in the transportation initiative in North Texas.

Collin County Commissioner Kathy Ward was selected as the chairwoman of the communications committee.

Commissioner Ward was elected a Collin County Commissioner in 2008. She was named the DRMC’s Collin County representative in 2009. Prior to being elected county commissioner, she served as party chairwoman of the Collin County GOP.

The DRMC is an organization of cities, counties and public transportation agencies in a five-county region on the eastern side of the Metroplex that advocates for transportation policy, funding and solutions on a local, state and federal level.
