CBO Analysis: Reid Bill Will Increase Family Premiums By $2,100 a Year

Senator Cornyn: That may not be much to Washington elites, but it would be devastating for middle class families and small businesses

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, a member of the Senate Finance Committee, today released the following statement regarding the non-partisan and independent Congressional Budget Office’s fresh analysis on the effect of the Reid health care bill on health care premiums:

“The whole point of health care reform is to lower costs for American families, so it’s unfathomable that Harry Reid and Senate Democrats would try to push through a bill that will increase family premiums by $2,100 a year.”

“That may not be much to Washington elites, but it would be devastating for middle class families and small businesses. President Obama made a ‘solemn pledge’ that health care reform would lower health care premiums $2,500 a year for American families.  That’s one campaign promise of his that must not fall through the cracks.”
